I became a full-time artist several years ago. I obviously didn't do it for the money but for something more important. For decades I was a print graphic designer. I loved being a graphic designer despite the stress of constant deadlines. I would still be doing graphic design if not for the pandemic happening. That was a rough time on so many fronts but the hardest was quietly witnessing my career as a graphic designer ending with clients going out of business and not getting paid for my work. I was ghosted by the writers and clients I had worked with for decades. I was devastated, depressed and felt unimportant and irrelevant. I had always made mixed media collage which was something I loved doing but at that time,  seemed overwhelming for me. Hand-carving linoblocks was something I found more accessible and a great escape from my negative thinking. For me the process of thinking in patterns and in the reverse is immersive and challenging. Art therapy with my pfiel cutters and my woodzilla press.
